Marine biotechnology is at the heart of the Soliance strategy and develops within a specific center for blue biotechnology in Brittany. It is based on the production of molecules by microalgae, microscopic marine plants. Their extraordinary biodiversity is a source of innovation, and the range of metabolites they produce.
First link in the food chain and first living beings that allowed life on Earth, microalgae have a particularly interesting profile from an environmental point of view. They consume more CO2 than they release and help save endangered fish stocks today. Moreover, the culture processes are controlled in a closed environment, they are free from any input.
The Marine Biotechnology Center is located on the Pink Granite Coast, preserved area, near a bird sanctuary.
